Acoustic Services

In our history, Veneklasen Associates has learned that a proactive, collaborative design effort provides the best probability for acoustical success. Our holistic approach takes into account the affect of all systems on the built environment. As evidenced by poorly designed spaces, the acoustical environment is a critical variable. Our goal therefore is to optimize the acoustical environment in a manner consistent with the requirements of the architectural space and the comfort of the inhabitants.

Our involvement commences early so that our recommendations are considered in the design phases, and continues through Construction Administration in order that the required details are executed properly in the field. Recommendations and performance criteria are only developed after an understanding of a project has been established in collaboration with the designer and other project consultants.

Acoustical recommendations are provided in the form of marked-up floor plans, typical details, sketches, acoustical specifications and brief written reports when necessary. Once this information is reviewed by the architect as well as other appropriate member(s) of the Design Team - the structural engineer, mechanical-electrical-plumbing engineer - it is incorporated into their documents at the appropriate project phase.

In our role as Acoustical consultants we consider:
  • Room adjacencies and space planning
  • Room acoustics
  • Design criteria
  • Acoustical finishes and materials
  • Floor / ceiling assemblies
  • Partition selection and design
  • Intersection detailing
  • Specialty construction
  • Window and door selection
  • Building equipment
  • Exterior noise
  • Site planning
  • Exterior façade component selection
  • Field testing
