The World of Ecology addition is centered on new and innovative Kelp Forest and Rain Forest exhibits, and essentially doubles the amount of museum exhibit space. The 170,000 SF expansion also reorganizes Science Center operations and staff in new quarters.
This new exhibit pavilion will contain over 175 new hands-on exhibits describing ecosystems from around the world. Specific features are a three-story enclosed rain forest with six fresh water exhibit pools, and a two-story, 160,000 gallon Reef Tank that is open to the sky and includes an inter-tidal zone.
Veneklasen Associates provided acoustical consultation services for the addition including sound isolation between exhibit areas, noise control in the Science Center including exhibit and holding areas, and mechanical systems noise and vibration controls for exhibit life support systems.
