An office tower adaptive reuse, 1100 Wilshire is a 37-story residential high-rise in the burgeoning downtown Los Angeles Central City West redevelopment district. The 460,000 square foot complex now features 228 condominiums ranging from 750 square feet to three-story 3,400 SF penthouses, with luxury residences on floors 31-37. A pool deck rests on top of the 15-story parking podium, which consists of 11 above-grade and four below-grade parking levels.
Veneklasen Associates provided comprehensive acoustical consultation for the high-rise. The existing exterior skin mullion configuration posed particular acoustical challenges, as did the placement of the building infrastructure, which was resolved through the use of 300, 22-story vertical cores to accommodate plumbing, electrical heating and cooling.
